Hope you had a good Thanksgiving day and are not overstuffed. I give up on trying to find the name of the buds in Monument Valley but not on the contest idea.

** I removed pictures recently but I can still print them. So if you don’t find directly on the site don’t hesitate to look at my other site.
*** A 4×6 is usually sold for 2$. You could get it for 0.99$. A 8×12 is usually sold for about 10$. You could get it for about 5$. Money goes directly to the printer. If you’re interested in some merchandise (like mugs/wallets..) I can add them

With a week full of birds, my pick of the week had to be one of them. I was split between several but finally set my heart on Ellebelle‘s lonely bird. I love the framing and the fact that this lonely cutie seems to be chirping.

Thank you for the good feedback I received after my first guest post!

Here is the second installation of the “Difference series”, where I show you two photos, one taken by Sebastien, and one by me, at the same place, almost at the same time, sometimes with the same equipment, to analyze our different visions.

These photos were taken during the road trip we took for our fifth wedding anniversary. We were in Chicago, and went on a cruise on Lake Michigan to capture the skyline. I think if we could do it again, we would go later in the day, closer to sunset (but on that day we wanted to be at the restaurant on top of the Hancock Tower for our anniversary at that hour).

What I like in each of them: From the format, to how we composed the photo around the main subject, to the color editing, everything is different! I am not a huge fan of sepia/redscale toning in general, so I prefer the colors in my photo. I like the brightness and contrast in Sebastien’s, and the photo appears sharper overall. As for composition, I like mine better, and would even have cropped Sebastien’s differently.

My pick of the week is Shaker for Best of 45 (28 Oct – 03 Nov). I really like the light in this shot and the details, but more than anything I like how this shot is a starting point for a bigger story. Is it high tide? Low Tide? Is the shell hiding or emerging?

  • For Theme 44 – Subjects of Phobias: I’d like to start by saying that I’m pretty scared about the pictures submitted for this, as it basically means that most of you were inches from these spiders and snakes and cockroach for instance. I really liked Monica as her spider seems to be dancing and Ben for a stinging shot but I picked in the end Larans that showed the Eiffel tower and reached me what acrophobia is in the same picture

Photoblog Challenges - Results - Theme 44

My pick of the week is Remus for Best of 44 (21 Oct – 27 Oct). Not only is it a beautiful light painting shot but it’s a shot that celebrate Remus 9 years of photoblogging. 9 years is a really impressive number. Congratulations and many more to you Remus!
